Mr. Adam (1946) is the first novel written by Pat Frank.

After a nuclear power plant in Mississippi explodes, it's soon realized that a specific form of radiation is released. The new form of radiation has caused all men on Earth to become sterile, even boys that are still inside the mother's womb. After nine months of the explosion no more children are born, until a doctor delivers a perfectly healthy baby girl more than 10 months after the explosion in Mississippi.

It's soon discovered that the child's father, who has the surname Adam was miles under the surface of Earth inside a steel mine the day of the explosion. It would appear that this Mr. Adam is the only hope that humanity has for propogation of the species.Template:Novel-stub
