Nayland is a village in the Stour Valley on the Suffolk side of the border between Suffolk and Essex in England. There are 15th century buildings in the village, Alston Court being one of these. The village church was painted by John Constable.

Eric Barton has written 'A Village Boy, ISBN 1898030383, an account of his life in the village as a boy in 1930s-1940s. A personal biography it provides a useful social history.
