Monkstown (Baile na Manach in Irish) is a village in County Dublin, Ireland, ( now part of Greater Dublin), situated in the southeast of the city. It is located on the coast, between the area of Blackrock and the town of Dún Laoghaire. The DART stations of Seapoint and Salthill & Monkstown serve the village. Monkstown is well known for its restaurants and bohemian residents. Monkstown has a locally known puppet theatre named Lambert Puppet Theatre, it is a family run business. Every year the puppet theatre hosts an international puppet festival. It used to run television series on national TV, RTE. Michael Jackson once saw a puppet show in this theatre. The town has three churches, Church of Ireland, Catholic and Society of St Pius X. An Irish school is located in Monkstown, Scoil Lorcáin, which teaches all classes through Irish. A primary school, Monkstown Educate Together National School (METNS) and a Christian Brother's School, CBC Monkstown Park, are also located in the Monkstown area. Paul McGuinness and The Edge used to live in Monkstown.
