Triameterine is the generic name for Dyrenium®, a diuretic that does not allow the excretion of potassium in the urine.
The known side effects of triameterine are a depletion of sodium, folic acid and calcium. Be aware that potassium excretion has been found to be slowed or inhibited in laboratory animals, but studies have not been conducted with humans.
Triameterine should be taken after a meal to avoid upset stomach.
