Logansport is a city located in Cass County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 19,684. The city is the county seat of Cass CountyTemplate:GR. Logansport is located in northern Indiana, at the junction of the Wabash and Eel Rivers, northeast of Lafayette. It was settled c.1826 and named for a Shawnee chief named Logan who served as a scout for U.S. forces in the War of 1812.

Logansport is located at 40°45'13" North, 86°21'38" West (40.753478, -86.360485)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 21.8 km² (8.4 mi²). 21.4 km² (8.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.90% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 19,684 people, 7,604 households, and 4,737 families residing in the city. The population density was 920.1/km² (2,383.0/mi²). There were 8,026 housing units at an average density of 375.2/km² (971.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 89.79% White, 2.08% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.90% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 5.63% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 12.58% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 7,604 households out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.8% were married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.7% were non-families. 31.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $33,483, and the median income for a family was $40,497. Males had a median income of $28,785 versus $21,660 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,085. 10.1% of the population and 6.4% of families were below the poverty line. 14.4% of those under the age of 18 and 4.8% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
