The refusal skills approach of teen celibacy advocates focuses on coaching unmarried high school students how to decline, in a way that promotes self-respect, sexual proposals by others. It attempts to minimize hurt feelings on the part of the other, while firmly respecting the right of the refuser not to be pressured into premarital sex.
