Promontory Point is a locale in southern Box Elder County, Utah, centered approximately at Template:Coor dms, with an elevation of 1285 meters (4217 feet) above sea level. [1] It is located on a promontory (peninsula) in the northern part of the Great Salt Lake.
Promontory Point is also the cape where this place is located, centered approximately at Template:Coor dms, with an elevation of 1309 meters (4297 feet) above sea level. [2] It is the location of the northern Utah weather radar.
Neither of these is the point where the railroads met. For that reference, see Promontory Summit near Promontory, Utah. Promontory Point is, however, on the later Lucin Cutoff, built to bypass the Summit.
