The term positioning has more than one meaning:

In marketing, see Positioning (marketing)
In grappling, see Grappling position
"Positioning" is also a term for the careful placement of objects
- by the use of precise navigation: for example, in the term "Global Positioning System" (which often refers rather to finding than getting into the position).
- in computer graphics, placement of virtual objects:
  - window positioning
  - placing HTML objects through CSS markup via the position attribute
