The U.S. Army's Command and General Staff College (C&GSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas functions as a graduate school for U.S. military leaders. It was originally established in 1881 as a school for infantry and cavalry.
The development of the college has been parallel with the increasing professionalization of the U.S. Army, reaching its present form in the aftermath of the taxing Vietnam War.
