Most applications of differential equations occur in mathematical models in the physical sciences. However, some occur in biology, economics and other disciplines.

Biology
- Verhulst equation - biological population growth
- Volterra-Lotka equations - biological population dynamics
- Replicator dynamics - may be found in theoretical biology
