Cutoff wavelength

In fiber optics, the cutoff wavelength for a mode in an optical fiber or waveguide is the longest wavelength for which that mode can propagate. For single-mode optical fiber, the cutoff wavelength is approximately the wavelength at which the normalized frequency is equal to 2.405.
