Passive is the opposite of active. It has several specific meanings:
- In grammar it describes a grammatical voice. See English passive voice for its usage in the English language.
- In electronics it describes passive components, circuits or pieces of equipment that perform no amplification and consume no power other than from the signal itself. See DI unit, electric guitar, or AEI.
- Passive is a song by A Perfect Circle from the album eMOTIVe and from the soundtrack of the movie Constantine.
- in any sexual activity involving penetration, active refers to the penetrating party, and passive to the receiving one
