Ground loop

The term ground loop has more than one meaning:

• In electrical engineering and electronics, a ground loop refers to an unwanted current that flows in a conductor connecting two points that are nominally at the same potential, for example ground potential, but are actually at different potentials.
• In aviation circles, the term ground loop refers to the rapid circular rotation of an aircraft in the horizontal plane while on the ground. Ground loops are common with taildraggers, as the center of gravity is behind the main undercarriage.
