Insula is the Latin word for "island". It has other meanings:
- A Roman building with several stories. The lowest floor was used for shops and the higher for residence (the higher, the cheaper).
- Ínsula Barataria, the governorship assigned to Sancho Panza as a prank in Don Quixote.
- The insular cortex.
