Rumination may mean a calm lengthy intent consideration, but can have several meanings, which need to be addressed separately

• Cud chewing of Cows and other Ruminants
• Negative cyclic thinking, persistent and recurrent worrying or brooding; see Clinical depression, Obsessive-compulsive disorder
