A mystagogue is a person who initiates others into mystic beliefs, an educator or person who has knowledge of the mystic arts. The term is sometimes used to refer to a person who guides people through religious sites such as churches who explains the various artefacts. It also used jokingly in reference to some so-called Continental philosophers, such as Martin Heidegger, whose opaque writings baffle many of the uninitiated.
