Maihara (米原町; -cho) was a town located in Sakata District, Shiga, Japan. On Feb. 14, 2005, it merged with Santo and Ibuki towns to form a new city called Maibara.
In 2003, the town had an estimated population of 12,212 and a density of 285.46 persons per km². The total area was 42.78 km².
