These traditional names are based on the number of times sheets of paper are folded to make a given number of pages, after their folds are cut.
In the modern Book trade there are many other names for indicating the size of books.
A Paperback is usually a very small book which can fit into a pocket, though the term is also used to designate a certain sort of binding, regardless of the size.
An elephant size or elephant folio book is at most 23 inches or 585 mm tall.
An Atlas folio is at most 25 inches or 635 mm tall.
A double elephant folio is at most 50 inches or 1270 mm tall.
