In psychology, the behavioral neuroscience approach is an approach that emphasizes the importance of understanding the brain and nervous system if we are to understand behavior, thought and emotion. The approach considers behavioral variables being measured or manipulated.

Studies in behavioral neuroscience cover the entire range of relevant biological and neural sciences, including anatomy, chemistry, physiology, endocrinology, and pharmacology.
