Production assistant is a filmmaking term for a person responsible for various odd jobs, such as stopping traffic, acting as couriers, getting items from craft service, etc. Production assistants are often attached to individual actors or filmmakers.
In television, the term denotes a more senior position, usually an assistant to the producer responsible for co-ordinating and managing many of the important aspects of the production, in many ways an assistant producer.
