The genus Pygoscelis ("elbow-legged") contains three species of penguins collectively known as "The Brush-Tailed Penguins."

The three species of brush-tailed penguins are the Adelie Penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae), Chinstrap Penguin (Pygoscelis antarctica), and Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis papua). Their appearance is that of what most people think of when they think of penguins.
