Geodashing

Geodashing is an outdoor sport in which players use GPS receivers on a playing field that covers the entire planet. The waypoints, or dashpoints, to be reached are randomly selected. The win goes to the team that reaches the most dashpoints in a given time.

The game started in early June 2001.

The first game spanned two months (June–July 2001). Since then, most of the games have been one month long. This is one of the ways geodashing is different from geocaching, the fact that each point only exists for a month limits the number of people visiting each point. Also that there is to be nothing left at the dashpoints. (Many players do both caching and dashing.)

Players will often take pictures at the dashpoints and upload them to the site.
