The name 1st Division has been used for two different units of the Australian Army.
- In 1914, a 1st Division was raised as part of the First Australian Imperial Force. When World War I ended the division was demobilised. See: Australian 1st Division (World War I).
- In 1921, the 1st Division name was revived and was assigned to an Australian Citizens Military Forces (reserve) unit, elements of which served in the South West Pacific Area during World War II. See: Australian 1st Division (World War II).
- Today, the 1st Division is also known as the Deployable Joint Force Headquarters, and is the primary expeditionary formation, responsible for most of the units of the Australian regular army.
