Historical enclaves

Throughout history there has been a number of enclaves created that, for whatever reason, no longer exist. The following is a list of former enclaves.

• Cheikh Saïd (fr) - former French enclave near Aden
• Comtat Venaissin
• Dadra and Nagar Haveli
• Gwadar - till 1958, Omani coastal enclave inside Pakistan
• Lado Enclave
• Hong Kong - former coastal United Kingdom colony shared one border with the People's Republic of China
• Ifni
• Kowloon Walled City - enclave inside Kowloon, Hong Kong. Question of jurisdiction led to hands-off approach adopted by People's Republic of China, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom until solution was agreed upon.

• Kwantung Leased Territory
• Macau - former coastal Portuguese territory shared one border with the People's Republic of China

• Shanghai - British, American, and French Concessions, and International Settlement
