SLAM as an acronym has several possible meanings:

• Simultaneous localization and mapping: a concept in robotic and autonomous navigation.
• The Supersonic Low Altitude Missile, designed and developed at the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory between 1955 and 1964.
• The U.S. Navy's Standoff Land Attack Missile: a modern cruise missile system.
• The Selectable Light-weight Attack Munition is an explosive charge that is used by U.S Special Forces.

Slam has also other meanings as a word:

• SLAM Magazine is a basketball publication.
• Short term for slam poetry.
• Slam, a 1998 film.
• A grappling move, such as a suplex, wherein a participant lifts and throws his opponent to the mat.
