"Professor" Irwin Corey (born 29 July, 1914 in Brooklyn) is an American comic and film actor whose slogan is "The World's Foremost Authority". He is credited with inventing the unscripted, improvisational style of stand-up comedy.
He accepted the National Book Award Fiction Citation on behalf of Thomas Pynchon for Gravity's Rainbow in 1974.
