PowerJet (Двигатель) is a 50/50 joint venture between Snecma Moteurs of France, and NPO Saturn, of Russia. The venture is modeled after another Snecma engine partnership, CFM International. The sole product is the SaM146, for the Russian Regional Jet. The joint venture's charter will not permit development of engines larger than 18,500 lbf (82 kN) of thrust, in order to prevent competition with CFMI.<ref name="avweek_venture">"Franco-Russian Venture Will Seek To Evolve Into World-Class Engine Player", Aviation Week & Space Technology, August 1, 2004.</ref>
