Apoenzyme

An apoenzyme is an enzyme without its cofactor; that is, the protein molecule to which a coenzyme will bind to produce the holoenzyme.
An example of this would be the RNA polymerase apoenzymes that Sigma σ factors compete for during transcription.Template:Enzyme-stub
