Flames of Paris is a classical ballet with music by musicologist and composer Boris Asafiev, and originally choreographed by Vasily Vainonen. The four-act ballet, based on a book by Nicolai Volkov, concerns the French Revolution in Paris.
It was premiered at the Kirov Theatre in Leningrad on 7 November 1932, with Galina Ulanova as Mirelle de Poitiers and Vakhtang Chabukiani as Jerome.
The pas de deux which occurs at the end of the ballet is energetic and joyous, and is frequently performed as a recital piece.
