The Allegheny Front is an escarpment delineating the eastern edge of the Allegheny Mountains. The Front extends southwesterly from South-Central Pennsylvania, through Western Maryland, and into eastern West Virginia and is bordered on the East by the westernmost valley of the Ridge and Valley Province of the Appalachians; to the West of the Front lie the Allegheny Mountains.
The front has an elevational change of up to three thousand feet.
