Physical effects is the term given to a sub-category of special effects in which mechanical or physical effects are recorded. Visual effects are usually planned in preproduction and created in production.
Physical effects may be divided into at least four categories:
- Explosions
- Special mechanical rigs
- Support systems: wires supporting actors
- Stunts
Special effects also cover another sub-category of visual effects.
