1912 Novarupta eruption

The 1912 eruption of the Novarupta volcano occurred on June 6, 1912 in what is now Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska. It was the largest volcanic eruption in the 20th century and may have released up to 4 cubic miles (17 km³) of ash. The eruption formed the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes.
