AJ Savage

Image:AJ Savage.jpg On June 24, 1946, the U.S. Navy awarded North American Aviation a contract to build the aircraft that would become the AJ Savage. Intended as a carrier based bomber, the AJ was first reported in squadron service by VC-5 on September 13, 1949. It was eventually redesignated A-2 under the 1962 joint aircraft designation system.

- XAJ-1 : Prototype, two aircraft built.
- AJ-1 (A-2A) Specifications listed in the table below
- AJ-2 (A-2B) Engines replaced by Pratt and Whitney R-2800-48 and Allison J-33-A-10 models respectively, increased fuel capacity
- AJ-2P : Photo-reconnaissance version of the AJ-2, with redesigned nose for cameras.
