A History of Man
From Free net encyclopedia
Template:ScientologySeries A History of Man is a Scientology book written by L. Ron Hubbard in 1952. The book describes the origins of humanity according to Scientology. According to Hubbard's introduction to the book, it puts forward "a coldblooded and factual account of your last sixty trillion years."
Many of the book's claims conflict with the scientific model of evolution. For example, Hubbard states that clam-like extraterrestrials called boohoos and weapers were tossed into the Earth's oceans millions of years ago, and evolved into humans. Contemporary humanity retains psychological problems due to the "enturbulation" these clams experienced by the agitation of ocean waves. The book also claims the Earth is much older than the five billion years or so that science describes.
Posthumous editions of the book have been altered by the publishers, who have removed some of Hubbard's more outlandish claims.
