Al Nipper

Albert Samuel Nipper (born April 2, 1959) was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and two other teams.

Al Nipper played for the Red Sox from 1983 to 1987. He played for the Chicago Cubs in 1988 and for the Cleveland Indians in 1990. He finished with a career record of 46-50 and a 4.52 earned run average.

On November 17, 2005, Nipper returned to the big leagues when he was named bullpen coach of the Red Sox. Since his retirement, he had served in a number of positions in the Red Sox minor leagues. With pitching coach Dave Wallace's health problems, he has assumed the position of the Boston Red Sox's pitching coach.

Nipper graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO (Formerly Northeast Missouri State University.)
