Alan Davies (born 6 March 1966, in Essex, England) is an English comedian and actor.

He won the Time Out award for Best Young Comic in 1991. In 1995 he appeared in the spoof travel show One for the Road and got his own radio show The Alan Davies Show in 1998. In 1997 he became Jonathan Creek, a contemporaneous Sherlock Holmes character. This proved to be a hit with viewers and critics alike and lasted four series finishing with three episodes in 2004. There is much hope among fans that a new series will be made one day. In 2001 he was Robert Gossage in Bob and Rose, a comedy drama about a gay man falling for a woman.

He has most recently appeared as the regular panellist in the BBC quiz game QI hosted by Stephen Fry.
