Selected history

In the late 1990s, the band released their underground debut album, Greatest Hits. The album went on to win Best Independent Album in the L.A. Music Awards.

In 2000, after forging a friendship with rock band Papa Roach, Alien Ant Farm signed with DreamWorks SKG for their first studio album ANThology.

The band began touring in 2001. In this year, their cover of the Michael Jackson song, Smooth Criminal, was a #1 single in Australia and New Zealand and a #3 single in the UK. Their following single Movies was a Top 5 hit in the UK and a Top 20 hit in New Zealand.

In May 2002, the band was involved in a bus accident while touring in Spain. The driver was killed, and lead singer Dryden Mitchell suffered a fractured C2 vertebrae, the same injury that crippled actor Christopher Reeve. Alien Ant Farm soon returned to the studio to work on their next album called truANT, which was released in 2003 produced by Stone Temple Pilots' Robert and Dean DeLeo. The video for These Days, the first single from the album, was filmed on top of a nearby building during the Red Carpet at 2003 BET Awards. Glow has been a mainstream radio success, while also achieving long lasting top 20 success in New Zealand.

In 2004, guitarist Terry Corso split with the band citing "irreconcilable differences". Joe Hill was named the new guitarist in 2005. They have completed the new album but speculation is that there are issues with Geffen that prevent the release of the new album.

In January 2006, there have been speculations that some of the songs on 3rd Draft will be released as a new album with new material. There has not been any official statement yet about the speculated new album, but on March 25, 2006, a new track titled "Forgive and Forget" was posted to the band's MySpace site [1].
