The American Translators Association (ATA) is the largest professional association representing translators and interpreters in the United States.
ATA membership numbers over 8,500.
ATA is affiliated with the International Federation of Translators (FIT).

ATA was founded in 1959.

Structure
ATA is divided into twelve divisions, most of which are based upon language specialty. The divisions provide members with a variety of services, including newsletters and directories. These divisions include:
- Chinese
- French
- German
- Hebrew
- Interpreters
- Italian
- Japanese
- Literary Translators
- Nordic Languages
- Portuguese
- Slavic Languages
- Spanish
- Translation Companies
There are also chapters in various locations around the United States.
