Image:Babyjpg1.jpg Ann Turner Cook is a mystery author and former high school English literature and writing teacher. She was the model for the Gerber baby logo on baby food jars of the Gerber brand. Daughter of cartoonist Leslie Turner, a 4 month old Ann Cook was used as the model for a charcoal drawing by neighbour Dorothy Hope Smith. In 1928, when Gerber announced it was looking for baby images for its upcoming line of baby food, Smith's drawing was submitted and subsequently chosen. The drawing of Ann Turner Cook has been used on all Gerber baby food packaging since.
After retiring from teaching in Tampa, Florida, she became a mildly-successful bargain mystery author. Her books include Trace Their Shadows, Shadow Over Cedar Key, and Homosassa Shadows.
