Arete (Greek: Αρετή) can refer to several different concepts, people, and things:

- Arete became more specific when applied to moral character, and is normally translated as virtue.
- Arete (goddess) was a Greek goddess of virtue, and a daughter of Praxidike.
- Queen Arete (mythology) is a character in Homer's Odyssey.
- Arete of Cyrene was a 4th century BCE Greek philosopher.

- Areté is an arts magazine.
Greek place names are normally transliterated Areti:
- Arete (landform), a thin ridge of rock that is formed by glaciers (the word is etymologically unrelated to the Greek word).
