Assignment in Eternity

Assignment in Eternity is a collection of science fiction novellas by Robert A. Heinlein first published in 1953.

It contains Gulf, Elsewhen, Lost Legacy, and Jerry Was a Man. Three of these (Gulf, Lost Legacy, and Jerry Was a Man) have to do with speculations on what makes one a Human, and the first two of those with the potentials for evolution into a superior form of Human.

The Baen Books paperback 1987 edition reprints Heinlein's future history chart, even though none of the four stories are on the chart. The book is dedicated "To Sprague and Catherine", who are L. Sprague de Camp (friend and noted science fiction author) and his wife Catherine Crook de Camp.
