Audubon is a city located in Audubon County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,382. It is the county seat of Audubon CountyTemplate:GR. Audubon is home to a gigantic cattle statue, Albert the Bull.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²). 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 2,382 people, 1,035 households, and 646 families residing in the city. The population density was 522.6/km² (1,354.2/mi²). There were 1,107 housing units at an average density of 242.8/km² (629.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.33% White, 0.25% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.42% from two or more races. 0.34% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 1,035 households out of which 24.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.0% were married couples living together, 6.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% were non-families. 36.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.83.
In the city the population was spread out with 22.8% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 20.8% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 31.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 82.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 76.9 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $33,068, and the median income for a family was $40,455. Males had a median income of $31,071 versus $19,183 for females. The per capita income for the city was $20,128. 6.7% of the population and 5.9% of families were below the poverty line. 6.9% of those under the age of 18 and 7.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
