From Free net encyclopedia
BOB is a band from St. Louis, Missouri created in late 2004. The current lineup includes Tim Glaser (vocals), Dan Finucane (guitar), Dave Mitchell (drums), Noah Mitchell (bass), Tony Bertucci (keyboard), and Will Turnbough (guitar). The band's main focus is classic rock but they have also experimented with funk and folk. In their one and a half years of existence, the band played about 10 shows and brought rock to the hearts of their audience.
History
The most credible story to the creation of this band starts in 2004 when jam sessions began between Will Turnbough (guitar), Dave Mitchell (drums), and brother Noah Mitchell (bass) in the Mitchell's basement. As their school's annual talent show drew near, the group decided to assemble a band to perform. The trio's good friend Dan Finucane (previously in The Revolution with Will Turnbough) began collaborating and immediately joined on guitar. After deliberation, it was decided that Tim Glaser would be added for vocals. The friendship between the members soon became apparent and became the key factor in holding them together. "Blue on Black" by the Kenny Wayne Shepard Band was the song to be performed at the talent show and was the first song the group ever played together. After performing for the first time together, the group recieved a good amount of positive feedback and decided to stay together.
After on and off practicing and a couple small gigs, the band added piano phenom Tony Bertucci. With the addition of keys, the band gained a new, dynamic sound. The group played their first concert together in early 2005 of the upper level of the Hi-Pointe and split the bill with the Wee Beasties. Songs from this premier show include Forever, I Want A Girl Named Molly, Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who), Try, No More, That's the Way (Led Zeppelin) with guest vocalist Braden Piper, and His Story among others.
The band is still together today, but faces the challenge of each member going to college. In the year and half of their existence, BOB has played at various venues including Jackson's, the Creepy Crawl, the Hi-Pointe, and many other events. The climax of the group's career occurred at the 2005 talent show, a year after the original performance. Closing the event with "Hotel California," this is perhaps their greatest doing to date.
