Baron Strathspey

From Free net encyclopedia

Baron Strathspey is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1858 for John Charles Ogilvy-Grant, who was the Earl of Seafield in the Peerage of Scotland. Upon the death of his successor in 1884, the barony became extinct, but was soon awarded to the ninth Earl of Seafield. The titles became separated in 1915, when the Earldom went to a female heir (as is often permissible with Scottish titles), while the Barony had to pass to a male heir.
