Barry Bostwick

Barry Bostwick (born February 24 1946 in San Mateo, California) is an American actor and singer, particularly associated with made-for-television movies and mini-series. Bostwick has appeared in many movies and recently played the Mayor of New York City in the sitcom Spin City, however he is probably best known for playing Brad in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and as George Washington in the epic films based on the biography by James Thomas Flexner, George Washington and its sequel, The Forging of a Nation.

He is also a veteran of musical theatre. In 1972, Bostwick originated the role of Danny Zuko in the original Broadway production of Grease. The role earned Bostwick a Tony Award nomination. Bostwick's other theatre roles include portraying bandit Jamie Lockhart in the 1977 Broadway musical The Robber Bridegroom. For this role, Bostwick earned his Tony Award. In 1990, another Broadway musical, Nick and Nora, in which Bostwick co-starred with Joanna Gleason, opened to poor reviews and closed after few performances.

Bostwick regularly serves as host of the nationally televised annual "Capitol Fourth" celebration on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., usually leading off the show by singing a medley of patriotic songs.

Bostwick is married to Sherry Ellen Jenkins and has two children, Brian and Chelsea.
