Beautifulgarbage

Template:Album infobox Template:Lowercase beautifulgarbage is the 3rd album by the band Garbage, released on October 2, 2001. The album is notable because it presents a more produced sound than the band's previous works and more self-reflective lyrics from singer-songwriter Shirley Manson.

The album got off to an inauspicious start. It was released well over three years after Garbage's previous effort, Version 2.0. Additionally, the lead single from the album, "Androgyny" failed to crack the top 20 in the United Kingdom and had no impact in the United States.

Despite this, the album received excellent reviews from Rolling Stone and other music magazines, and Garbage remained well established as a band and had a significant fan following. The album debuted at #6 in the UK and #13 in the US.

Many fans reacted negatively to the release, claiming that Garbage had strayed from their rock roots into europop. The opening song, "Shut Your Mouth", was an example of the classic sound Garbage had been famous for in the 1990s and would go on to be the album's highest-charting single. There were R&B offerings, long, somber ballads, '60s pop, and new alternative pieces.

"Cherry Lips", an electronic-pop song, was a moderately successful single, spending 3 weeks in the UK top 40. The band also embarked on an extensive tour of Europe supporting U2 and later played shows throughout the United States along with No Doubt.

The other single to be released from the album was "Breaking Up the Girl".
