Belgian car number plates

From Free net encyclopedia

Number plates in Belgium are driver specific. If you trade in your old car for a new one, you keep your old number plate.

The number plate has a white background with red numbers and letters. Usually a three-letter combination followed by a three number combination: "AAA 111" (there are still many "old" number plates in use: one letter/four numbers or two letters/three numbers in various combinations).

The front licence plate looks like an ordinary European licence plate, with the blue EU flag on top of the band with "B" on the bottom. However, the rear licence is actually three plates: the licence plate, a square plate with the EU flag on the left, and another square plate with "B" in white on a blue background on the right.

There is no connection with the different regions in Belgium and the combination on the car number plate.
