Blocking may refer to:

  1. The formatting of data into blocks for purposes of transmission, storage, checking, or other functions. See block size and block storage.
  2. Denying access to, or use of, a facility, system, or component.
  3. The failure of a telecommunications network to meet a user service demand, because of the lack of an available communications path.
  1. Blocking (improv), a term used in improvisation.
  2. Blocking (stage), the movement and positioning of actors on the stage.
  1. Blocking (film), the movement and positioning of the camera and actors in a scene.
  • In combat, a synonym for defense, thus meaning "defending from attacks by an opponent". Blocking with a weapon is called parrying.
