Blue ray
From Free net encyclopedia
Blue Ray is a general term for the next-gen optical disc technology for storing high-definition video.(disputed — see [[: talk:Blue ray#{{{1|Disputed}}}|talk page]]) It is based on the 405nm wavelength "blue ray" laser to provide higher storage density on the disc.
Currently there are two opposing parties competing for the industry standard, they are:
- Blu-ray Disc (Sony, Disney, Apple, and more / Blu-ray_Disc_Association) and
- HD DVD (Toshiba, Intel, Microsoft, and more / DVD Forum).
Several companies do support both formats, including: Paramount, Warner Bros., Hewlett Packard, and etc.
Blue Ray in the past was used to refer to a photo-copying process for blueprints and/or traces. This equipment is now largely obsolete.
