Book of the SubGenius

The Book of the SubGenius: Being the Divine Wisdom, Guidance, and Prophecy of J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, High Epopt of the Church of the SubGenius, Here Inscribed for the Salvation of Future Generations and in the Hope that Slack May Someday Reign on this Earth (ISBN 0671638106) is seen as the "bible" of the Church of the SubGenius. It was first published by McGraw-Hill in 1983, and subsequently re-printed several times. It was compiled from the Church's ongoing zine publication The Stark Fist of Removal. It is usually found in the humor section of most bookstores, though zealous SubGenius followers often move it into the religion section instead.

Some people believe that "Bob" was not in fact anything the religion says he was, he was in fact an agent of some sort, freelance investigator of his own cause who fought his way to the top of the world's command chain (above the governments and into the conspiracy) and that the book itself contains revelations 'between the lines' about the truth of the conspiracy. The reason a lot of it sounds like complete nonsense to 'pinks' is because it is written in his own sort of code, which is deciphered only by true SubGenii intellect - that is what being a SubGenius is, being intellectual enough to break through the religion and into the reality of the conspiracy through the code of the prophetic book.
